School Days
Tomorrow is an exciting day here at la Casa Miki. It is the first day of school. I aproach it with mixed emotions, fear, joy, sadness. I love the fact that the kids are starting something "new." My oldest is entering the 8th grade, his last year in middle school, my middle child is starting the 6th grade, his first year in middle school, and my baby, she is starting school for the very first time, Kindergarden. Wasn't it only yesterday that they were in diapers? When did they learn to walk? Let alone go off to school? Tomorrow will be a very Very VERY hard day for me, the baby will board the school bus, she will go off and begin a very separate part of her life, will mature a little and will learn a lot. Strange, I will have the urge to run blindly behind the bus, but I won't. No child wants their parent chasing them down the street in mid morning traffic, now do they? The older two will be riding their bikes to school, with the oldest's best friend. They will get themselves out the door, with a few of Mom's first day photo ops, and will look at me as if I am insane, so that being said, I will be a little insane tomorrow. I won't sit at the bus stop all day waiting for the littlest to arrive, but I will wait anxiously when the time comes. It is a rule that a parent be there or an adult designee when the child gets on and off the bus at the stop. Most days I will go myself, but if it is impossible, I will ask on of the moms to "get" her so that the older ones can bring her into the house. When Scott is in the city for docs or in the hospital, that may be the route to go, so we will see. Tomorrow I will post pictures of the first day, if I can get them, of the boys anyhow. I know that I will get many of Cassidy, my in laws brought over their camera so that we can take photos of the kids tomorrow, as neither one of them can be here, they are working. My neice will be here to see her God daughter get on the bus, my husband's brother called to see what time she will be getting on the bus, maybe he can get a few minutes off to come and see her get on the bus. I guess when you are the youngest in a family, you get the fanfare! I am going to take some photos with good old fashioned film. Yes, folks, I still take film pictures! I haven't gotten that new camera yet, I am working on it, but it hasn't become a reality yet! My digital is obsolete, and I am not happy with the quality of the photos, so I hope for Santa, the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny or some other mythical creature to land one in my lap for a holiday or something. Whatever, it will happen when I have enough money and have done enough research. BUT I DIGRESS! Hope all who are celebrating the First Day of School have a great day, those who have already crossed the academic line, hope you all HAD a great one! I will leave you with parting words, this is what I say to the kids every school day:" Have a great day, and learn lots!"

School Days...it's sad to watch your babies go off and begin to work through their new experiences, but how great is it to have the whole house to yourself for the day! Bravo on starting the kids off to a great day!
Just think of all that 'quiet' time.
It seems like my daughter just went off to kindergarten...but it's been so long I barely remember it. Not...I remember every moment of it. Something one never forgets, ever. Hope your kids enjoy their first day of school.
It's touching that your daughters uncle stop by for the event. Obviously a 'tight' family you have there. I know how you feel. I didn't handle all of that very well. Often times I had to get to the field real fast. I recall following our youngest, Tom, to college and I bawled like a baby for most of the hour and half trip. Take lots of pictures and don't embarrass the older ones TOO much. Happy Days.
