Last night we did a fundraiser, my son's team. It was a poker night, what an experience!
I helped out with the raffles, and my husband helped out at the door, kind of a bodygaurd for the ladies taking the entry fees.
I enjoyed myself, people watching. I really loved it. There were guys there who toured the circuit, looking for a game, waiting on line for a spot at a table. Not many lady players, but I am sure that will change. Each of these men knew the other, either by name or reputation. Of course, there were a few dads and grandads who were playing to support the team, they were blown out by these "regulars."Just watching all of these guys was amazing, they played in relative silence, the noise level really not reaching above a murmur. You would have thought you were in a study area of the local library. These were serious characters, and they bought raffles too! We were offering a free hat or shirt with the team logo on it if they bought 20 dollars worth of raffles, some of the guys would give us the 20 and say I really don't want or need the hat/shirt, so give it to the next guy, or whatever.
Just know, I may bore you all with a short short story, someday, about a character loosely based upon one of the characters from last nite. Anyway, that is all for now.
