Has anyone been getting a slew of email lately. When I go to my inbox, I have ridiculous amounts of unread email messages. I mean like 16 unread emails! Some are your garden variety "Hi, how are you doing?" But most are the solicitors for loan, credit card, and medicine companies. As far as medicine goes, it isn't even over the counter meds, it is true presctiption drugs. I sincerely don't need your VIAGRA, I am not a man with problems in that area. I don't want your HOODIA, I am overweight, but don't want to experiment with your chemicals, thank you! I also get the stock solicitations. Where it is from a person, that person's name appears in my "From" column. Then, the subject line appears, with one or two words that don't make sense together, or a whole phrase that makes no sense, for example: The email is from someone named Deb(now mind you, I have a friend named Debbie, so I automatically think it may be from her, that she shortened her name, or something) but the subject line( I will embellish to get my point across) Sew the dogs' paw. WHAT? So I have to click on it to see what the heck. It is an unreadable text with a black background! I send it to my blocked sender's list. I think to myself,"Whew! You just got rid of the last one!" Who do I think that I am kidding???? Next time there are ten more! With different names and different absurd subject lines. The get very comical at times. I just chuckle when I see them and send them on their merry way to a blocked sender's list. I can't unsubscribe, there is no way to do that, I have tried responding to the email to let them know graphically that I don't want these things cluttering up my inbox nor my time, but the email cannot be routed to the sender. These folks are clever little buggers aren't they? SO I have resolved that I will either get over myself and keep blocking these things, or I will just change my email address. Which will be better, taking the time to block the new ones that keep popping up, or change my email so that for now they cannot find me????? I guess the former. I really don't want to keep changing my email, I want everyone to know it is me when they see the address, not Deb and her sewn dogs' paw!
I think that is all in my rant for this morning, almost said evening, but as my insomnia has kicked in, I see that it is now 4:40 am. Cassidy had a stomach thing about an hour ago, a little vomit, needed the shower, bed to be stripped, and linens to be washed immediately. SO now, I am wide awake, in mind anyhow. Poor thing, just did it again! I just disenfected the bathroom in a quick way, those disenfectant wipes are a wonder! Tomorrow, or should I say today, I will get the bucket and the mop out with the disenfectant for the whole floor and the rest of the room. Did the sink, but need to do it better, did the toilet, but need to do it better. Make it a great day!

Yeah - I have been getting pounded with unwanted e-mails lately. Most are in another language not english. I spent 10 minutes the other day deleting them. I really hate the ones the say "an old is trying to contact you". They cause me to pause. Then I thinking they must be old or they would know how - delete.

I used to average 200-300 e-mails a day. I kid you not. Then I switched providers and with that came a brand new address. The best thing that ever happened to me. I changed almost 5 months ago and the most I get in a day is 10 and they are all from people or businesses I know. I have another through Yahoo and that gets weird ones but not as many.
A little information on how junk e-mail works. Your Internet service provider has an e-mail server. A lot depends on what software the provider is using to screen this junk e-mail.
There are new ways for scams to get access to your e-mail address and new ways for them to sneak through the software that is loaded onto these e-mail servers.
Chances are your provider just needs to update their software that screens this junk.
So when Cheyenne changed to the new provider she not only started off with a clean slate, so to speak, she had the benefit of this new provider's software that is used to filter out the junk and spam emails.
I hope this isn't getting too lengthy to read.
Another thing to take note on, the scammers came up with this great idea to really hook end users. They put a little phishing scheme called "click here to unsubscribe" feature at the bottom of their junk mail. This way anyone who "took the bait" enforced the actual fact to the scammers that 'they had a live person on the end of this e-mail address line!' Don't feel foolish, I took the bait on this one at first also.
This way, instead of actually unsubscribing from the junk email list, you were in fact re-inforcing the fact that you were going to get much more junk mail because they either share their "live" email addresses with other scammers or sell them. I am finding out that this is getting to be a pretty big money making business for these seedy scammers.
Even weirder still, (forgive me) is the fact that malware will go so far as to catch names and phrases you use in e-mail to catch unsuspecting end users. So in fact, the name "Deb" was used because it caught that name or a version of it in a previous email. Chances are that you may have used the word dog or paw or sew in email also. They also phish blogs, and web sites that you visit.
So that a person who does a lot of knitting will get junk email on that exact subject. It can get complicated.
I reccommend looking into your service provider's options for email (sometimes a simple phone call to the provider for help) or your anti-virus's options to scan junk email as it is downloaded.
Again, I apologize for the length of this comment. Here is a url that you can read about evading scams:

Boo to junk email. I get it all the time too. Boring!!!
My house could to with a tickle.
Take care xx
Gee, if it weren't for junk email, I wouldn't have any friends.
Oh yes you would Cliff!!!! Isn't he a card?!!!
I have been getting those stupid stock ones. Can't read them due to the colors and I just automatically delete them. So far it's not been that many, but my fingers are crossed. Junk mail is a pain in the arse!!!
AWESOME Rant! I've gotten enough of them myself. But, luckily, if it's not from someone I know, I immediately delete it. And, if it's from someone not familiar and they tell me, I have them email again. But, you've got to watch opening these things. Hackers are able to attach viruses to emails, that, when you open them could attack your computer. My philosophy: When in doubt, don't open, just delete.
The major problem is that your email address was sold to one company, who sold it to 2 friends, and so on and so on (remember that commercial?). I just say it's part of being in a high tech world. I just deal with it but I don't have to like it!
My best advice is to not reply to them. Do you use hotmail? I got the worst spam with hotmail. Yahoo was better and I just started getting spam with Gmail when I put my address out there. Still, I don't type out my email address for the same reason - spammers have bots that will find it and innundate me with spam mail.
