It seems that I have entered the techno world with a LOUD BANG! I returned the original IPOD NANO, and got another one. I think that there was something up with the original, because this one is letting me do the right things with it. I also received, again from my generous husband, a "boom box" that docked the ipod and was portable. When I opened the box, I realized that it needed 6, yes count 'em, 6 c cell batteries. I didn't see a power adapter, and I was puzzled. So, with some trepidation, and hesitation, I took it back to the Costco, where he purchased it. I hope he forgives my returning, because I returned almost everything that he got me this year, sneakers, too small and really didn't need a new pair, slippers, really not my taste, I think that they might have been better for his grandmother or my mom, but I said thank you, and told him gracefully that they weren't the right size, or the right style, then the ipod was causing a little insanity, so that was just an exchange, but the boom box, even with an ac adapter, would have taken up so much counter space that it would have been awkward in the kitchen. So, I returned it and purchased an alarm clock dock. The dock also will charge and play the shuffle, so it serves a dual purpose, I can charge my Nano, and the boys' shuffles at the same time.
But, back to the original thought, here. I have successfully put songs on the ipods, added to mine after the fact, and learned how to play this dock. My kids, the boys anyhow seem to think that I am a tad insane, who am I to argue? but I love reliving the memories that each song so far have brought back. I laugh at the thoughts of the singers' hairstlyes, at the moments that the songs came into my life, and where I was when I first discovered the songs. Cassidy has abeen dancing since she finished her homework. She keeps bringing her bear into the kitchen to twirl him around, when she hears the bars of a familiar refrain. I caught her standing on a chair, as I was chopping zucchinni, shaking herself to one of the songs, giggling uncontrollably. So, I guess it isn't just me who is benefiting from the technology. Interesting afternoon in my boring little life!

An alarm clock dock? I haven't heard of that, but it sounds cool!

I have an iPod mini though.

Marilyn has a doc but no dock. I'm glad you got your husbands shopping figured out.

Sounds like Scott is right there with the rest of us husbands. A few years back I had Char try on a coat at the store it fit her perfectly. I hung at the end of the rack. A few minutes later I return got it and bought it. I want to surprise her. Know what happen? That coat shrunk by the time we got home - while it fit in the store it didn't when we got home.
