Better

Cassidy, although she still coughs at night, is so much better! Thank goodness! Hope that it stays that way. Patrick has a sore throat and a cough, me too, but it comes and goes. Daniel, who has allergies, is perpetually stuffed up. Scott, well, remember that he had that cough for a while, and the doc said to let his own immunities take care of it? It's back. Though not as bad, but maybe he caught it from the kids. I hape that we don't have a repeat of last year, or Christmas will be cancelled at the Miki house. I can't do last year again, I just can't. But on a brighter note, most of my Xmas shopping is done. I need to run out and get something for Scott, the man who didn't and doesn't give ideas! I have one, and that is what I am sticking to.... Cassidy is returning to school today, tomorrow we have "gingerbread" houses to make in class. We will be using foam cutouts because the district has a strict "no food" policy in the classroom. No cupcakes for the birthdays, no holiday (politically correct) parties, not even an end of the year party, nothing. If your child doesn't bring in a snack that day, out of luck. The teacher can't even give a handful of pretzyls to a child. Scary, huh. Our schools have become the food police. The reasoning behind it is that the national guidelines on childhood obesity came out. So, 30 cupcakes a year and a ocuple of parties are what make kids fat????? Don't get me started.
That is all for now, til next time....

For me the best part of school, besides recess, were those parties. There were always cupcakes or M&M's but far short of being a buffet. So now we have diet by regulation. Okay, you got me started - I better stop.

Ah, that SOOOOOO sucks! Luckily, our school system must not have read the report. We're making gingerbread houses Wednesday, but, and I think, they're glueing graham crakers onto shoe boxes. I stocked them up with all kinds of candy, extra graham crackers, etc. Oh, and 3 shoe boxes, in case anyone didn't bring one in. AND, they're doing a party Thursday.

Maybe those 30+ cupcakes a year made me what I am today. Yep, an overweight mom. But, I'm happy and alive. Just another reason to BLAME someone besides themselves. I'm overweight because I like to eat. Yep, don't get me started!

Hey Miki. Since you're my most faithful reader - and maybe even the only one - I'm letting you know I've packed up and moved out of Blogspot. I can't take the Blogger Beta problems anymore.

I'm not going away though. Please drop by http://bobbeckstead.com/blog and say hello.

Wow! Tough school district!

It cracks me up that the whole thing with the food was mandated this year, and then in November, the PTA sends home a letter asking for all of the parents to "make something" or send something in for "staff appreciation day." I didn't even respond! It is ok for my kid to have no cupcakes on her birthday, but not ok for the teachers to have no home made goodies for their day? What??????
I really don't think, Cathy that it was the cupcakes, becasue, I went to this district, and when I went thru elementary, my Mom was one of the only ones that baked cupcakes. So, I guess that I am in the same boat as you, have been all of my life, but, as you say, I am happy with who and what I am, comfortable with that person, and I accept it. Peruby, wish it were tougher in the areas that really count! Ralph, I am started already....Bob, I am going to visit, and often!
