Update

Scott is in the hospital and is doing well. He had the catheter placed on Monday and came home. Tuesday his parents and I went into the city with him to admit him for the stem cell transplantation. We stayed for a while to get him settled. He had the round of chemo that day at about 3pm. All went well. Yesterday, (wed) he had the transplant. The doctors decided to give him only 2 bags of his cells and to keep a few bags frozen. Their thinking was that he is a young man and it would be good to keep a few on hand in case the transplantation needed to be done again. That makes sense. I also asked the doc if he could harvest again later down the road if necessary. The doc said that it is absolutely possible. So that answered a nagging question, I didn't think it was possible for it to happen again. Glad that if necessary it can happen again. Scott's attitude wasn't great going in to this transplant, but he is there in the hospital and will remain as long as the doctors think is necessary. Yesterday, his appitite decreased a little, and that happened the last time, we think it is the chemo, it is so high a dose and so strong of a drug that it could make things go a little haywire in the body. He had shots to combat some of the side effects, that is a new thing, and had to take a series of 3 pills, over three days to combat the nausea(which is not present at this time.) The pills help the body prepare for the comming side effects before they appear. That particular med we needed to fill, because the hospital doesn't dispense it. I guess with only 4 or 5 rooms of transplantation, not always filled, the expense, and yes it is expensive, of the drug for only 3 days worth, doesn't pay for the pharmacy to have in stock, at the hospital. But he sounds good on the phone, a little subdued, but ok. He is BORED, out of his mind. I am going in to see him today, making the trek by train and subway, will stay for a while and go make the trek home. I am not so sure that I will make the trip tomorrow, as I have too much to catch up on here at home. I have bills to pay, house to clean, etc. The kids are doing well, Daniel wasn't when we left on Tuesday, but is better. He came with me yesterday, so now he feels better. Patrick has decided that Monday will be a good day for him to visit. Cassidy, I can't even attempt it with, she won't be able to move well on a subway or a train, too much containment for a five year old.
That is all for now. Updates to follow.

Don't forget, all your blog friends are "hear" to listen to you when you need us. AND, don't forget, don't make him laugh too hard. It might hurt! Keep your chin up; it'll get better.
