Goings on and on and on and on............

Today is a gorgeous day here on Long Island, but you wouldn't believe the weather over the weekend. It was a horrible downpouring day on Saturday and to top off the horrible weather, one of the neighbors had a terrible fire in their home, Diagonally across the dtreet, an old boiler sparked and started the towels on fire that had just come out of the dryer. The whole basement that they had just refinshed went up and the fire went up through the walls of the house, so it is a total loss. The firemen were able to save the structure, but it must be gutted to make it safe to live in..............one of the girls is going to make her Holy First Communion in a couple of weeks, and the firemen saved her beautiful dress, just a little soot on it, but the dry cleaner is going to try to get it out. Hopefully that will happen. No one was hurt in the fire, they all were able to get out and get the kids to safety. Today the trailers are arriving and being assembled so that the family will have a place to live while the house is being redone. Thank goodness that the family has people nearby to stay with, and coincidently the people are a brother and sister in law, my son's baseball manager. This has been hard on all of them, but they are getting things back to normal by having the trailers delivered and put together, at least they can live on their own. I don't know why I am blogging about this, but I guess, I needed to write something, so I thought that I would just write about things going on around me. I am packing up the kitchen to start the demo work, and the computer has been moved, that was a project for Scott yesterday, and it is completed. I am happy about that. This morning the boys and I dismantled the computer desk, a cheapie, that outlived its usefulness a long time ago, but we didn't have the means or the heart to get another, heck, we still don't have another, but will when my kitchen is completed. The computer has taken up temporary residence in the livingroom on a folding table, and seems to like it just fine. Remember all of the problems that we were having? Well, they have miraculously disapeared now, I guess a change of scenery is good for everyone! We tried all of the solutions that everyone gave to us, thanks lyou by the way, and nothing. Scott unplugged the computer, unplugged the dsl and when he reconnected, WHA LAHHHH! Evewrythingn was up and running smoothly, thank goodness for small favors! So that is all in this little corner of blogland.
