Hello to all in "blog land." Sorry that January has turned to February and now Feb. will be turning to March. The time has gotten away from me. Meanwhile, you all have been chugging along.
Let me update you a little on what is going on here in Miki land. My computer is acting wacky. My hubby and I each have seperate desktops, and mine seems not to want to allow me access to all of my "stuff." That being said, we have cleared out the temporary folders, defragmented it and the like! UGH! Scott has been desperately trying to hook up via wireless router, a lap top that his folks gave us. Not an elderly one, but a fairly new one, and then we can detach the tower fo this computer and get it really cleaned out and fixed! I am using and have been using Scott's desktop for about a month, and don't always have access to all of your addresses, it is a pain, but I deal with it!
We had a little snow last week, on Friday, not much, but a little, enough for the kids to bundle up and play in it. I like it that way, a little on a vacation from school week, no closures and no worries about kids bieng on the busses on the roads. I did still have to worry about hubby, he was on the road and working in it!
Baseball for Dan has been taking up a lot of time, but in the end, as I have said before, it is well worth it! Patrick has been going after school to do weight lifting for next year's football season, and on Monday nights, has bee to "workouts" for the upcomming baseball season. Cassidy is now reading on at least a 2nd grade level, but I suspect higher, and that to me is great! I signed up both Patrick and Cassidy to play baseball in the spring at a local little league, and this will be Patrick's last year.
By the way, Patrick turned 15 last Monday, but had a stomach bug all day, recovered enough to go out to dinner with us at APPLEBEE'S, his choice, that is our policy. On your birthday, dinner is your choice, whatever and wherever you want. If it is something I can and do know how to cook at home, plain or fancy, I will cook my heart out for you, if you want to go out, you have that option too! When the boys were little Pizza was always the best choice for them. They would always choose pizza. So, I would get special paper plates, usually with a character or something they were interested in printed on them, coordinationg napkins and we would have a cake of their choice too! Now the cake is still their choice, and usually they want one baked, not the old garden variety ice cream cake! THank goodness. We as a family are well beyond the "out" party, where you pay hundreds of dollars to bring your own pizza and cake for a group of screaming children that your child otherwise hasn't associated with, for them to go to Chuckie Cheese, or someinsane headache producing place like that! We did the Movie thing, where the kids take a couple of their friends to the movies on a Sunday after noon within the vicinity of their birthday, but even that became too much. The last straw was when Danny's "friend" had to bring his Dad, because he would have a panic attack if a parent didn't go with him!? (HUH???)
So we went to Applebee's for dinner, and took Patrick's best friend with us. It was nice and it was cute the way his friend cozied up to the waiter and called him by name, so that the "crew" would sing their special birthday song for Patrick. Patrick wanted to pass out from embarrassment, but well he survived!
This week has been quiet so far, but had to take Patrick to the Doc yesterday, he had a sore throat and his ears hurt. Doc took a throat culture, and put him on antibiotics, and we will know whether or not to keep him on them by tomorrow. THe doctor told Patrick that he is overweight, and now in the obese range according to national guidlines. What he fails to realize is that Patrick lifts weights every day, and is very athletic. patrick, on to p of being sick, felt really crummy about that and when we left the office, i told him that it wasn't his lecture that the doc was handing out, it was meant for me. The thing is, I am overweight, so I am making my children that way. (HUH???) Whatever, I am finding a new doctor for the kids, it is time and this was the perfect last straw, make my kid feel bad and I have had it! I don't want a doctor to tell me what I want to hear, but a little compassion please! As far as I am concerned, my son is big, athletic and healthy!
Well, enough for now, have to start getting ready for the day! Will catch up with all of you soon!

Welcome back. I go to a female doctor, they are much more sensitive to feelings, etc...
For your computers:
If you get the chance, go to download.com and download spybot search and destroy for free or Ad-Aware for free. Both of these help to eliminate pesky spy programs that my be running on your computer and slow it down. I've used both for years.
Also, make sure you don't download any Yahoo or Google toolbars. They are a real pain.
Good luck!
