Hello to all! I can't believe it has been a week since I blogged. I must be slipping....well, NOT! From reading most of your blogs, I see that you had great Thanksgivings. Glad to hear that. Scott and I, along with the kids went to my in laws' house, his brother and sister in law were there also. It was a nice cozy day. As usual, the turkey and all the trimmings were excellent, and we enjoyed spending the day with the family. The kids of course, enjoyed bieng spoiled rotten, which is whaqt Grandmas do. Patrick discovered that he REALLY LOVES stuffing, or dressing, depending upon which way you refer to the bread in the turkey. It is another thing that I can't duplicate that my mother in law makes. I make it the way my mom made it and so on, mine is good, but I know that my mother in law makes hers better. I am not jealous, just stating a fact here, ther are some things from your childhood that you remember being better than what your spouse makes. I won't give up on the stuffing thing though, I like my stuffing, Scott likes it, but just not as much as his mom's. I do want to get a recipie from my mother in law though, she makes this carrot thingy that Scott loves, and it looks as if it isn't too difficult to make, even for a dinner on Sunday. I have to remember to ask. We went out on Friday, yes participated in a little of the lunacy, not at 5 am or 12 am, but at 10 am we were in the store of our choice. We have a tradition, I can't remember when we started it, but the day after Thanksgiving, Scott and I go to Fortunoff, it is a pricey store in Westbury, LI. They set up a Christmas store in their basement, where they normally keep the "outdoor" furniture and the like. They sell everything that is related to CHristmas, from artificial trees, to wreaths, and ornaments too. They display everything like a museum, and then offer racks to buy the stuff. So we go every year. We buy ornaments, which we don't always display EVERY year, but as the kids were small, they got their first Christmas ornaments from there and special ones that represent what they were doing at the time. Hokey, but a tradition just the same. It kind of gets Scott in the mood to do the Christmas thing. He is a little excited this year. He isn't going through chemo, his hip is repaired, he feels good, so he is getting excited. He is looking foward to "doing" Christmas. I am glad, because, he needs a boost. So then on Saturday, Patrick had a scrimmage in basketball, he made the school team, by the way. We went to that, and came home. My sister TC wanted to bring a Christmas dress by for Cassidy, so we waited for her to come. Scott started hanging Christmas lights, it was so warm outside, and I settled down to do "things" in the house. All of a sudden, Scott is calling me outside, like there is a REAL problem out there. My sister Margaret came from upstate to suprise everyone for Thanksgiving!
We visited for a while, and they went off to outlet shop. We gathered later at TC's house for Pizza and a longer visit. My nephew Kevin and his girlfriend Becca were there, and it was an evening full of laughter and fun. Sunday we spent doing "normal" things, and Scott finished hanging the lights. That was it in a blur.
Scott had a doc's visit yesterday, even though he has a cold, the doc is happy with him so far. He was slightly aneamic(hope that is spelled right) but a little shot of aranesp will help with that, and we were on our way. He doesn't need to be seen for another two months! That is when they will do a complete work up, blood, 24 hour urine, and bone marrow biopsy. That is when we will know how well the stem cell transplant worked.
Today I have the man comming to look at the stove and oven, it is new, and I find it strange that whenever I preheat it, the glass fogs up and has condensation on it until it reaches temperature. They will probably tell me that there is nothiing wrong with it, but I just want it checked. I feel that we paid a ton of money for this thing, and it really shouldn't have moisture in between the pannels of the glass. Whatever, will be will be. Tomorrow, I will probably go foodshopping for my mom and for us here. It is looking a little barren, due to the fact that I haven't gone since last Monday!
That is all for now, enjoy the rest of the week!

Sounds like you had a great Thanksgiving. It also sounds like Scott found his Christmas spirit, mine is still buried somewhere. Get that recipe from your mother in law!
Ralph
So glad everything went well for you. We went to my parents house. Don't even want to go into the "in law" issues (would take too long). But, we went out Thursday night to CompUSA because they had a 9-midnight sale. Getting there about an hour before the opening, we were about #150 in line. Yep, the crowd was there, but not like over at Best Buy around the corner that had as many people in line, WITH TENTS, waiting for 5am Friday. It was fun and something different to do. We were able to walk off turkey coma.
Hehe, I won't tell you where there are spelling errors in the post. That's your business! (had to give you a razz because of your awesome comment to me when the "anonymous one" left their editing comment for me)
Hey Cathy,
sorry for the spelling errors! I found most of them, HEHEHEHEHEHE! I guess that mme tiping scills aren't what they shod be! OOOPS! was there a problem in the last sentence. Pardon my silliness, I am still half asleep, it makes me giddy.....Seriously, you are nuts, going out on Thursday night!!! We had a major traffic jam on the way to one outlet mall that opened at midnight! Like a parking lot on a major highway. Although I hear that those "early" sales are the best!
Ralph, thank you for your comment. I am going to ask my mother in law for the recipie. Then I will send it to you! She will be flattered!
I'm so glad you had a great Thanksgiving Miki! Glad to hear that Scott is also doing well. What wonderful news!!
Thanks for posting and giving us an update!! Take care!!
The windows in oven doors are a pane. sorry..
Well I'm glad Scott is good to go and in the spirit.
My true holiday spirit hits about the day after Christmas. The shopping thing I just can't do. I think living on a farm and working alone all of my life has messed my 'mob' skills up.
Merry Christmas Miki!!
Ditto Rachel - I'm glad you had a great holiday and Scott is doing well! Good luck w/ that oven door, too. ;)
sounds like you had a great time I am so glad.
I am so glad that you all had a really wonderful time together and that Scott is doing great.
I found this year that I enjoyed Thanksgiving and it put us in the Christmas mood for some reason.
We don't celebrate Thanksgiving in England so that last couple of years have felt odd.
We have our lights up too.
Take care sweetie xx
