GOODNESS! Today will be a day of rest. No Lie. Yesterday started last thursday. Daniel was violently ill with some stomach bug that was threatening to blow up the whole house. Thankfully it only lasted for a few hours, and then he was just wiped out. But then the real kicker comes, on Christmas Eve. Cassidy gets it! She refused to eat anything all day, but drand volumuous amounts of warm ginger ale. We pack up and go to the inlaws, because Cassidy is much better and wants to don her pretty dress for Grandma. Everything goes fine, no incidents of sickness and a very nice time was had by all. Nice company, nice food. Cassidy ate potato chips and requested noodles, which Grandma added to the repitoire, immediately, Cassidy asks, Cassidy gets! She didn't eat one noodle! So that said and done, we go home put the kiddies to bed and settle in for a long winter's nap. I didn't sleep well all night, tossed and turned, heard every little cough, sigh, talking in the sleep, yes, my kids do that on occasion. Wake up, to an alarm that was supposed to be set to 6 (DANIEL) and it was actually 545, yes folks, that is AM, Eastern Standard Time!NO< WAIT< I AM WRONG! It went off at 445 AM! I awoke to the noise of GUNS AND ROSES: "Sweet Child of Mine." Let me tell you what was said about my "sweet child......." No, I had better not, he may read this some day! So now we get everyone, I mean I get everyone settled, again, go back to sleep for a little while, and my auto alarm, the internal one goes off at about 615, that is ok, I am used to it. I get up feeling fuzzy. I shrug it off, don't worry it will pass, I tell me. I make the coffee, make my tea, still fuzzy, and now I have aches, and I feel weird, crampy stomach, etc. I start by drinking ginger ale, settle that right out of me, right?????? NOPE! So now I have to get myself presentable to see what Santa brought. The kids wake up all excited. I seriously don't think Cassidy's excitement meter went below crazed all day! They tear through their presents, with Scott in attendance of course, and I look over at him, he looks pale and weird too. UH OH! After the kids are safely playing, I return to the kitchen, feeling a little funky, but now exhausted, UH OH! I prep and stuff the turkey. I can't find Scott, he is prone on the bed. UH OH! He feels nauseous, UH OH! I get myselfo together, somone has to work through this and then I realize that OH NO. The Ham Is still in the freezer. SOMEONE GET IT OUT! Scott has now graduated to the couch still clad in his jammies. I race into the shower, put on my jeans and a nasty tee shirt, need to finish getting the dinner ready to go into the oven. Scott goes back to bein prone on the now made bed! The kids are running around loud and fighting over the TV. I didn't put a stitch of Christmas music on all day, odd for me, but I just didn't think about it at all!
Scott showers, gets dressed and resumes position on the couch where he prompt;y falls asleep. Phone rings, phase one of the avalanche of people are comming. My sister, Tc and her husband Tom come early, this year. As we, the kids and I, Scott is out and down for the count, are visiting with them, my in laws call, they are loading up the sleigh, well the Ford Escape, and are on their way, PHASE TWO has begun. Scott doesn't move except to open his eyes and talk a little. I am now checking turkey, ham and veggies and salad and everything, baste the turkey run around, Scott falls asleep. I took a couple of ibuprofen in there somewhere, and the aches and nausea have now gone away. Ny husband refuses to eat even a cracker to take the ibuprofen with. His father forces one on him he takes the meds. He feels ok enough to go get my mother with Patrick. My mother is blind, and Patrick knows how to walk with her to get her places safely. With Scott and the cane he wasn't going to be able to do it himself. I am still racing around like a looney toon, and really didn't get a chance to stop and visit with my mother.
Dinner gets done: FINALLY! I wake Scott up again, pleas cut the turkey, oh excuse me, carve the turkey. He starts to take the stuffing out of the bird, gags, and gags again. Get out of here I scream, you are gagging, his father comes into the kitchen and takes over. He says that he doesn't think that the turkey is done, it is too moist. I look wild eyed at him and say:" Leave it there then, we will eat ham and everything else, I will deal with it later. My mother in law comes into the kitchen, he tells her he doesn't think the thing is done, she looks at it and tastes it and says yes, it is done, I knew it was, it was in the damn grill for 4 hours. (We use the grilll as an extra oven on CHristmas.) Dinner goes on the table, I am begging Scott to go to bed, he won't budge from his seat on the couch. I start to clean up, my mothe in law chips in and my kids when demanded at, we get everything done, dessert goes on the table. Scott's brother and sister in law come (late, too late for dinner) and his parents leave. My mother demands to leave, and yes a command is a demand. Scott wakes long enough to take her home, with Daniel and Patrick to help. He comes home and sits on the couch. Falls asleep. I am packing up the leftover desserts and the kids are helping me to put them away. The kids go downstairs to the basement to watch TV and play pool, on a little 5 in one game table that they go t for xmas several years ago. I grab a blanket, stretch out on the other couch, and pass out. I wake up at about 10, shivvering, freezing, and go to bed. Before I fell asleep, I took Scott's shoes off, he can't bend that far yet with the hip, he slept through it. I woke him up and told him to go to bed, he yelled at me to leave him alone, he wasn't going to bed yet. When I went to bed he was still on the couch. he climbed into bed, and I woke up. THirsty, shivvering and covered with sweat. I feel sooooooo much better. I drink, warm ginger ale again, and go back to sleep.
SO today we will both lay around and sleep, rest, whatever. I think Scott is better, because he was also sweat soaked in the bed. The only amount of work that I will do today is to change the sheets on the bed, get the germies out of there!
Have a great Day! Sorry this is so long, it is as insane as my day yesterday!

Wow! What a trooper. It made me tired just reading the entry. I think I need a nap. No, really. You have some kind of stamina.
I hope you get some well-deserved rest.
Tonite, we did "leftover night" too! that wasn't nearly as much work as yesterday. I woke up ok this morning, and so did Scott. Thank God for small steps. I feel bad for him, he NEVER EVER gets sick, but once in a blue moon, well it hits him just the way it did yesterday. I guess that is what it is all about, togetherness, we share it and thatis that. I just thought that it would be funny for all to hear my Looney toon story!
Thanks for your sympathy, peruby, I appreciate it, and have been taking it slowly today!
