We have word

Hi to all of my friends, family etc. Thank you for your continued prayers and your thoughts.
We finally did get word the other day, but I haven't had time to think, let alone write something here.
My Husband was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. We don't know where it came from, but it is here. He has lesions on his back, on his left hip and possibly on his neck. He started treatment on tues with an iv infusion of a drug called Zometa it helps to strengthen the bones. He also received a heavy dose of steriods. Wednesday, yesterday he started chemo, a newer drug called, Velcade, an Iv push( it gets injected at the end of an iv treatment right into the iv tube) and he got more steroids. Today he went for a steroid treatment, and tomorrow he goes for more velcade and another drug called Doxil. that is the final chemo treatment for this week. Then he goes back on Monday and thurs for more chemo. Weds he starts oral steroids for 4 days, and then again the following week fo r4 more days. Then he is "off" for 28 days. and the 2nd cycle begins. In between he has to get anothe rMRI an d bloodwork. They draw blood every time he goes to the oncology nurse. Most of the treatment is done in the Doc's office.
Just keep us in your thoughts, He is going to beat this thing, he is too strong, stubborn and will full not to!
In a few months he will need to have stem cells harvested and then have a round of more intense chemo and then have a transplant of his own stem cells to begin a more permanent remission.
So we have a few months of rough times, but it is a bump in our road of life, we will get thru it, we will be better people at the end of this.
I will keep you posted, periodically, right now, my exhausted body needs to sit and rest, as does my husband's.
Love and thanks to you all!
M

Hey Mikki,
I worked out a while ago that God doesn't always save us from the tough times in life, but he sticks with us through them.
I hope you'll all continue to know his help through this.
Praying for you.

Well, not the "word" we were all hoping to hear, but it sounds like you have a good doctor with an agressive plan. I will be keeping your husband and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you Cathy, we need that right now, I promise to keep evryone updated as soon as I can, I find snippets of time and try to grab them for little things, like writing, so I will keep trying to write. M

Last but not least, thanks to Roger, it helps to know that youtoo keep reading and that you are keeping us in your prayers, I appreciate that too much to write about here. I will try to keep in mind that God is there and that I can lean on him when the need arises. As I have said before, I keep a running conversation going with Him in my head, and that helps! We will come through this and the trying times ahead together, and on the other side stronger and more aware of the real picture of life! We will be stronger for this experience and will be better people as a result of this life altering experience.
